Biography

Judith Groner, MD, is an academic general pediatrician and program director of the Nationwide Children's Hospital Academic General Pediatrics Fellowship. She brings to her teaching and research a broad clinical background in general pediatrics, with an emphasis on low-income, high-risk populations along with the understanding of pediatric health disparities.

Dr. Groner is the past Chair of the American Academy Section on Tobacco Control and currently is on the Executive Committee of that Section. Dr. Groner has spoken internationally as an invited speaker on issues related to pediatric tobacco control, vaping and e-cigarettes. Her career consists the practice of primary care pediatrics, clinical teaching, quality improvement and research. The ultimate goal of her research is to improve the health of children and adults through research on the effects secondhand smoke and vaping in pediatric populations. Dr. Groner also has a clinical and research interest in pediatric obesity.

Dr. Groner has been a member of the Primary Care Asthma Quality Improvement Team for several years. In that capacity, she and the team have introduced innovative methods to decrease the number of primary care patients with asthma who go to the Nationwide Children's Hospital Emergency Department for asthma care. These efforts have been successful. The team won the Quality Improvement Award “Reducing Emergency Department Visits in Children’ with Asthma” from the Children’s Hospital Association in March 2018. She is the winner of the Nationwide Children's Hospital Osler Award for the best Grand Rounds presentation in 2018.
