Is Your Contact Information Up to Date So Ohio Medicaid Can Reach You?

Families who have health insurance through Medicaid have not had to re-enroll for a few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This means you might need to sign up for Medicaid again. (This also can be called re-enrollment or redetermination.) Watch for important mail about enrolling in Medicaid. If you do not respond to mail that tells you to re-enroll, you may lose your health care, prescriptions or other services.

If you or your children have health coverage through one of these plans, you will be affected.

• Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield
• Buckeye Health Plan
• CareSource
• Humana Healthy Horizons in Ohio
• Molina HealthCare of Ohio, Inc.
• UnitedHealthcare Community Plan

It is very important that families who have Medicaid take these two steps below as soon as possible. Some families will get notices beginning April 1, 2023, that their Medicaid coverage is ending on May 1. As long as you return your paperwork, you will still receive coverage during the determination process.

Step 1: Make Sure Your Address and Phone Number is Updated With Medicaid and Your County Department of Job and Family Services (CDJFS)

Keeping your address updated helps you get the information you need about your health coverage. If Medicaid needs more information to keep (continue) your or your child’s coverage, your county Department of Job and Family Services (CDJFS) mails a letter. If your contact information is not updated, you might miss important notices or letters. There are three ways you can check your information. You will need your Social Security number or your case number. You can use any one of these ways to check.

• ONLINE: Visit the website ssp.benefits.ohio.gov. Select the box marked “Access my cash, food, medical or childcare assistance. Once you log in, Select “Report a Change to My Case” from the dropdown menu and follow the prompts.
• PHONE: Call (800) 324-8680.
• IN PERSON: Visit your county Department of Job and Family Services office.

Step 2: Check Your Mail and Respond to Renewal Letters or Information Requests Right Away!

If you get mail from your county Department of Job and Family Services, open it right away!

If you do not respond to renewal letters or requests for information, you could lose your Medicaid coverage. Follow the directions in the letter and respond right away.
