For more than 15 years, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and its partners have made deep commitments to school-based health, to developing affordable housing, and to improving neighborhoods and the lives of their residents.

In some ways, Nationwide Children’s has the most robust population health initiatives of their kind in the United States. Now, the hospital is starting to tell that story in a way that it hasn’t before.

Over the next few months, people in Ohio and beyond will see and hear more about the work Nationwide Children’s doing. To start, a full section of April’s Columbus Monthly magazine will lay out the hospital’s commitment to healthy schools, healthy homes and healthy neighborhoods. Health happens everywhere, not just inside the walls of a hospital.

The story we are telling is also a story about partnerships – with the State of Ohio, school districts, non-profit organizations and community-based financial institutions. Many organizations have directly supported Nationwide Children’s efforts in southeastern and central Ohio. Many have also worked alongside Nationwide Children’s staff members inside schools or out in communities.

Some organizations are leading those efforts and allowing Nationwide Children’s to partner with them. Partnership is critical in helping us achieve best outcomes for every child.
