Our Nationwide Children’s Hospital - Toledo Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics team addresses the emotional, developmental and behavioral needs of children and their families.
Outpatient services include comprehensive care delivered by our developmental and behavioral pediatrician and advanced nurse practitioners in partnership with other health care professionals.
Meet Our Team

Karen J. Mason
Karen Mason, MD, is a board certified pediatric developmental and behavioral physician treating patients at both Nationwide Children's - Toledo and ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children's Hospital. Dr. Mason earned her medical degree, received her residency training and completed her fellowship at the University of Maryland and brings over 30 years of experience to the Nationwide Children’s - Toledo team. She has a clinical interest in prevention, diagnosis and management of patients with developmental difficulties and problematic behaviors as well as family dysfunctions that compromise children’s developmental capabilities.

Susan M. Meyer
Susan Meyer, CPNP-PC, PMHS, is a pediatric nurse practitioner and certified pediatric mental health specialist treating patients at both Nationwide Children's - Toledo and ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children's Hospital. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University Southeast and completed her pediatric nurse practitioner degree at Wright State University. Susan has worked in pediatrics for 40 years and the last 18 years, she has worked as a pediatric nurse practitioner and mental health specialist. She has a clinical interest in autism management and treating children with ADHD and genetic disorders. Susan also enjoys celebrating developmental milestones and watching children find joy in their progress.
