Our Story
In 2022, Nationwide Children’s Hospital - Toledo joined the community with a mission to provide children local access to the most advanced treatments, therapies and procedures close to home. Nationwide Children’s - Toledo is proud to bring nationally ranked pediatric care to northwest Ohio while collaborating to expand education and resources for children and families in the community. We have nine primary care centers located across the region and provide expert pediatric care in a variety of specialties.
Beyond our walls, we invest in building social equity in our communities and address the social determinants of health in Toledo to better serve unique populations of children.

Partnerships and Collaborations
Collaboration is a critical part of Nationwide Children's Hospital - Toledo's mission to improve the lives of children in northwest Ohio. Educational resources, neighborhood safety and healthy home environments are all robust initiatives and cannot happen without strong partnerships.
We know it takes extensive resources to treat and care for children locally, regionally and beyond. Our mission is best served when we work together with other organizations to help the future of our children and our own community.
Community Partnerships
We thank our many partners for welcoming us to Toledo, supporting the important work we are doing in the community and collaborating with us to improve the lives of families we all serve.
Children’s Community Practices (CCP)
Children’s Community Practice (CCP) began in 2014 and includes a growing network of pediatric practices fully operated by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Nationwide Children’s Hospital - Toledo.
Currently, the CCP network is exclusively pediatric focused and includes practices across Ohio. The following practice is affiliated with Nationwide Children’s - Toledo in northwest Ohio.
Athletic Training and Sports Medicine
When schools and organizations partner with Nationwide Children’s - Toledo Sports Medicine, they receive athletic training services and access to comprehensive care from pediatric sports medicine experts. We work with coaches, athletic trainers and parents in many school districts throughout northwest Ohio to provide treatment for concussions and sports injuries. Our goal is to help athletes prevent injuries in the first place.
Population Health: A Committed Member of the Toledo Community
For over a decade, Nationwide Children’s Hospital has been dedicated to advancing population health efforts locally and regionally. Nationwide Children’s Healthy Neighborhoods Healthy Families initiative, established in 2008, spearheaded affordable housing initiatives in Columbus. The Nationwide Children’s mission to work at the intersection of health and housing extends to Toledo and Lucas County.
Nationwide Children’s - Toledo is working with partner organizations and community stakeholders to support lead remediation, reduce lead exposure and identify resources to expand education for local families. Combined efforts will reduce adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) to promote health and well-being of children and families in northwest Ohio. This work includes ongoing participation on the Healthy Lucas County Executive Committee, the Healthy Lucas County Funding Task Force and the Healthy Lucas County CHIP Task Force.
Nationwide Children’s - Toledo’s role in improved housing conditions promotes the vision of the 2021-2024 Lucas County Community Health Improvement Plan. This work is part of Nationwide Children’s - Toledo's efforts to make a positive impact in northwest Ohio.
