A Certified Hand Therapist is an Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist with advanced certification in hand therapy. The certification requires a therapist be licensed and registered to practice for a minimum of 5 years, have documented 4,000 hours of direct hand therapy experience, and sit for a nationally administered certification examination. Because of the technical complexity of hand and arm surgeries, Certified Hand Therapists must be knowledgeable about leading-edge surgical techniques and postoperative therapy programs. This advanced knowledge enables our Certified Hand Therapist to work with patients and families to help the patient return to a productive lifestyle.
