Travis received his bachelors degree in Athletic Training from Baldwin-Wallace College. He is nationally certified and licensed by the State of Ohio to practice athletic training. Prior to joining the team at Nationwide Children's Sports Medicine, Travis was a clinical and outreach athletic trainer for ten years with a nationally recognized health and rehabilitation system in the Cleveland area. With Nationwide Children's Hospital, Travis primarily works in programming through Functional Rehabilitation. He sees a number of different kinds of conditions, including musculoskeletal injuries, concussions, obesity (New U), and special populations. One such program is Play Strong, which helps cancer survivors safely transition from treatments to physical activity. Additional referrals are made from a number of departments with the aim of decreasing Body Mass Index (BMI) and increasing fitness levels. Travis incorporates play into each of these special population programs, so the patients are coming to have fun, not to exercise. Travis also helps lead the sports medicine social media channels of Facebook, Twitter, and 700 Children's Blog.
