David Repaske, MD, PhD (43065), has been appointed chief of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. In his role, Dr. Repaske will oversee a comprehensive range of services available in Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes at Nationwide Children’s, including the evaluation and testing for diabetes and endocrine disorders. He also will have an appointment as director of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism in the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
Former chief of Endocrinology, Juan Sotos, MD, will continue to serve as a physician in Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes at Nationwide Children’s.
Dr. Repaske received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (1985), and obtained his PhD in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1980). He completed his residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) in 1988, and his fellowships in human genetics at Vanderbilt (1986) and pediatric endocrinology at UNC (1991).
Previously a professor of pediatrics and member of the Neurosciences Training Program at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Repaske directed the General Clinical Research Center Biochemistry Core Laboratory at Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He also was associate director of the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Training program at Cincinnati.
Dr. Repaske served as medical director of the Diabetes Center and was co-director of the interdisciplinary Disorders of Sexual Development Center at Cincinnati Children’s. He was highly involved with promoting quality and safety in clinical care, and served as physician leader of the Diabetes Quality Improvement Initiative, the Endocrinology Advanced Access Initiative and the Insulin Safety Taskforce at Cincinnati Children’s.
Dr. Repaske’s clinical research interests include the molecular basis of inherited diabetes insipidus, optimal therapy for congenital adrenal hyperplasia and innovations in care for diabetes and other chronic conditions.
Dr. Repaske is currently a member of the Scientific and Medical Programs Oversight Committee of the American Diabetes Association. He has published more than 20 peer review articles and nearly 50 chapters and abstracts.
