Neonatal Developmental Clinic

The Neonatal Developmental Clinic provides care for those infants who have required neonatal intensive care. We provide developmental milestone testing for any infant that is premature or at risk for developmental delay. We also provide follow-up care for infants sent home with special needs. Our goal is to help your child develop to their fullest potential.

The Neonatal Team

We are an interdisciplinary team that addresses the medical, nutritional, neurological, developmental and social needs of patients in a single location. Our staff has extensive experience in caring for high-risk and premature infants.

Our neonatal team includes:

Your Visit

During your infant’s visit you can expect:

• We will address any concerns that may have developed since discharge from the hospital.
• If discharged home with an apnea monitor, we will download the monitor in clinic and then decide if it needs to be continued.
• Your baby will be seen by a physician and/or nurse practitioner and a dietitian (if necessary).
• Your infant’s movement, play and communication skills will be evaluated.

Follow-up

• If your infant has significant growth or feeding issues, or is on an apnea monitor, follow-up may be needed monthly.
• Since your infant is at risk for delays, we will follow their development in the clinic until the age of two.
• We may give you exercises to do with your infant at home to help them with their developmental skills.
• We may also recommend additional services in the community to help your infant with their development.
• We will send a letter to update your infant’s doctor after each visit.

If at any time you have questions regarding the follow-up of your child, or need to reschedule your child’s appointment, please contact us at (614) 722-4530 with at least 24 to 48 hours notice. You will receive additional information in the mail regarding this appointment as well as a reminder phone call. Please notify us of any address or phone number change.
