Our expertise, case review process and clinical protocols are the foundation of The Heart Center.

The Heart Center Team – We have a dedicated team of cardiologists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, researchers, intensivists, advance practice nurses, technologists and clinical staff. Our entire medical team is “hands-on” in determining the course of care for our patients. Plus, social workers on our team take care of families and connect them with resources to get the support they need.

The Heart Center Case Review Process – Because so much expertise is housed in The Heart Center, our case review process ensures the right treatment for the patient’s long-term outlook is pursued—whether it is a noninvasive, surgical, interventional or hybrid procedure. Each case requiring an invasive procedure is reviewed by the entire team. And it doesn’t end with a procedure. Case review is involved at every stage along the continuum of care.

3. Individualized treatment plan and options
4. Discharge planning and home care
5. Extended follow-up care plan as needed

Quality and Safety Focus of The Heart Center – Our quality and safety efforts focus on direct patient care delivery and support processes that promote optimal patient outcomes and effective business practices. This is accomplished through peer review, clinical outcomes review, variance analysis, performance appraisals and other appropriate quality improvement techniques. Our goal is to provide care that is safe, effective, timely, efficient and equitable.

Many members of The Heart Center are also leaders and coaches in Zero Hero—Nationwide Children’s Hospital's system-wide safety initiative designed to drop instances of preventable harm to zero.
