Bariatric Surgery Information Presentation
After gastric sleeve surgery, food will travel down your throat and enter the tube-like sleeve created by removing 80% of your stomach and stapling closed the rest of the stomach. This makes the stomach smaller, allowing you to feel full sooner and longer. It restricts how much food you can eat at one time. If adequate weight loss is not achieved, the sleeve can be converted to a gastric bypass.

Gastric sleeve surgery takes about one to two hours and the hospital stay is generally 3-5 days. This may vary from patient to patient.
You may lose up to 3-5 pounds per week after gastric sleeve surgery. This, of course, depends on how well you follow the diet and exercise program after surgery.
Read additional surgery information including what to expect during the pre-op and post-op process. You may also contact the staff at the Center for Healthy Weight and Nutrition at (614) 722-4824.
