Membership Information

The Development Board is recruiting vibrant professionals for membership on an ongoing basis. While the membership process does require a referral from an existing member, there are numerous volunteer opportunities that allow for membership interaction and that provide insight to Development Board’s fundraising events and activities. Events

The Development Board supports Nationwide Children's Hospital through several events throughout the year, including:

The Woody Hayes Celebrity Classic & Kick-Off Party
The annual golf event, slated for June at New Albany Country Club, is the signature fundraising event of the Development Board of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The Woody Hayes Celebrity Classic functions as a 5-person golf scramble with a shotgun start. Foursomes are paired with local celebrities and compete for first prize. Don't miss your chance to golf with one of OSU's finest! Additionally, guests are invited to mix and mingle with the celebrities while bidding on auction items at the Kick-Off Party.

Rock 'N Bowl
Dust off your bowling shoes and join the Development Board of Nationwide Children's Hospital at Columbus Square Bowling Palace. The winter is a great time for Rock N’ Bowl! Form a team of five and raise funds to support child abuse treatment and prevention programs at the Center for Child and Family Advocacy. Let’s have a ball and celebrate teams that raise $500 or more during TWO HOURS of bowling fun.

Slice of Columbus
‘Slice of Columbus’ is central Ohio’s largest pizza event. Join the Development Board of Nationwide Children's Hospital in September at Lifestyle Communities Pavilion. Twenty area pizza shops will serve their most savory pies as they vie to be named “Best of Columbus” by a panel of local celebrities and chefs. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample unlimited pizza and vote for their favorite pie with the “People’s Choice Award.”

Great Scioto Duck Race
This floating rubber duck race takes place on the Scioto Mile in Downtown Columbus and attracts thousands of participants for not only the race but for a 5K and Children’s Fun Run, family  and children’s activities, food and fun.  The rubber duck race itself is a mass splash of thousands of ducks into the Scioto River and is truly something to see.   The Great Scioto Duck Race gives you the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children by simply buying a rubber duck racer.

Home and Garden Show Preview Garden Party
The Development Board of Nationwide Children’s Hospital is excited to host the Central Ohio Home & Garden Show Preview Garden Party on Friday, February 22th from 6:30 – 10:00 p.m. at the Ohio Expo Center.  Be the first to experience the beautiful gardens at the Garden Party. The evening includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails. Silent auction, raffles and live entertainment.

Projects

Holiday Party for the families of the Center for Family Safety and Healing
The Development Board of Nationwide Children's Hospital in partnership with the Center for Family Safety and Healing welcomes Columbus families who are less fortunate to a celebration of the season. These families will enjoy pizza, wings, subs, cookie decorating and pictures with Santa. Additionally, each family receives customized presents. Several local businesses donate to this evening of laughter and fun.

Admitting Gift Cart
The Development Board also provides its members with the opportunity to interact with our patients and families. All patients that are admitted to the hospital are given a small gift. This gift takes on all different shapes and sizes for our various aged kids. It can be a toy car, a game, a magic wand, or even a magazine! While this gift is small in size it often provides our visitors with a BIG smile. Gifts are distributed by Development Board Members on Monday and Tuesday evenings.
