Membership Information

The Development Board is recruiting vibrant professionals for membership on an ongoing basis.  While the membership process does require a referral from an existing member, there are numerous volunteer opportunities that allow for membership interaction and that provide insight to Development Board’s fundraising events and activities.  For more details, please contact Cindy Creedon at (614) 355-0888.

Events

The Development Board supports Nationwide Children's Hospital through several events throughout the year, including:

The Woody Hayes Celebrity Classic & Kick-Off Party
The annual golf event, slated for June at New Albany Country Club, is the signature fundraising event of the Development Board of Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  The Woody Hayes Celebrity Classic functions as a 5-person golf scramble with a shotgun start.  Foursomes are paired with local celebrities and compete for first prize.  Don't miss your chance to golf with one of OSU's finest!  Additionally, guests are invited to mix and mingle with the celebrities while bidding on auction items at the Kick-Off Party.

Rock 'N Bowl 
Dust off your bowling shoes and join the Development Board of Nationwide Children's Hospital at Columbus Square Bowling Palace. The winter is a great time for Rock N’ Bowl! Form a team of five and raise funds to support child abuse treatment and prevention programs at the Center for Child and Family Advocacy. Let’s have a ball and celebrate teams that raise $500 or more during TWO HOURS of bowling fun.

Slice of Columbus
‘Slice of Columbus’ is central Ohio’s largest pizza event.  Join the Development Board of Nationwide Children's Hospital in September at Lifestyle Communities Pavilion. Twenty area pizza shops will serve their most savory pies as they vie to be named “Best of Columbus” by a panel of local celebrities and chefs.  Attendees will have the opportunity to sample unlimited pizza and vote for their favorite pie with the “People’s Choice Award.”

Give A Little, Grow A Lot
The Development Board of Nationwide Children's Hospital announces their newest fundraising initiative- Give a Little, Grow a Lot. Their goal is to inspire as many people as possible to give as much as they can – even if it’s just a “little”…to grow the amount raised for the patients and families of Nationwide Children's Hospital...to a Lot!

Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational
The Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational is seeking to make an impact on central Ohio by donating 100% of all ticket sales to local charities. The full cost of every ticket you purchase will go towards the Development Board of Nationwide Children's Hospital. Come out and enjoy the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational while supporting the Development Board as they work to make a difference in our community everyday.

Projects

Art With Heart Magnet Promotion

Art With Heart was designed to showcase the masterful creations of amazing kids and highlight the service and care that they received while patients at Nationwide Children's Hospital.  These real-life kids share their artwork and stories to help other families in need.  Each magnet is unique in design and would make a wonderful addition to any refrigerator collection! Magnets are $1 and 100% of the proceeds go directly to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Each year, four (4) different magnet designs are made available at local Bob Evans Restaurants. Included with each magnet is a Free Kid’s Meal coupon that can be found underneath the magnet on the postcard. This year’s magnets will be available in late fall 2009!

Development Board Holiday Party
The Development Board of Nationwide Children's Hospital in partnership with the Center for Child & Family Advocacy welcomes Columbus families who are less fortunate to a celebration of the season.  These families will enjoy pizza, wings, subs, cookie decorating and pictures with Santa.  Additionally, each family receives customized presents.  Several local businesses donate to this evening of laughter and fun. 

Admitting Gift Cart
The Development Board also provides its members with the opportunity to interact with our patients and families.  All patients that are admitted to the hospital are given a small gift.  This gift takes on all different shapes and sizes for our various aged kids.  It can be a toy car, a game, a magic wand, or even a magazine!  While this gift is small in size it often provides our visitors with a BIG smile.  Gifts are distributed by Development Board Members on Monday and Tuesday evenings.
