The Oral-Systemic Health Connection in Children

The 2nd International Symposium on the Oral-Systemic Health Connection in Children was sponsored by the Department of Dentistry at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Section of Pediatric Dentistry at The Ohio State University (OSU) College of Dentistry.

The goal of the symposium was to discuss the connections between oral health and systemic health in children and the implications they have in the delivery of oral and dental care.

Dentistry faculty received awards for their contributions. Sarat Thikkurissy, DDS, MS, was awarded the Larry Peterson Young Educator Award for teaching by the OSU College of Dentistry. Dennis J. McTigue, DDS, MS, received the 2009 Manuel Album Award for his contributions to care of patients with special needs from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
