Autism Academy: Treatment - Looking at the Options

Treatment: Looking at the Options - While discrimination of training, discrete trials and behavioral management are the cornerstone for effective Autism treatments, parents often wonder if nonconventional or alternative treatments can also be effective.  Join us as we explore those treatments and learn what works, what doesn't and what's unknown.

Autism Awareness Events at COSI

Details: $9 Per Person | Free to COSI Members | Pre-Registration Required | Limited Availability

  • Explore COSI in an autism-friendly environment.
  • Meet with Nationwide Children Hospital's Autism Specialists and pick up resources from other valued community organizations.
  • Pre-registration is required. To maintain the best possible environment for participating children, the event is limited to  250 pre-registered guests only.
  • A limited amount of need-based family assistance funding is available through the Autism Society of Central Ohio. Please call 614.228.2674 for details.

2014 Sibshops Workshop

Brothers and sisters of children with autism have feelings that are difficult to express, even to a friend, sadness that a sibling cannot learn things, anger when their behavior prevents the family from doing things other families do, or the special pride when a sibling with autism learns a basic but important life skill. At Sibshops. siblings will share these feelings with others who truly understand autism.

The program focuses on using fun and games to explore feelings and share information. The Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders will be hosting and running the group.

Special Needs Movie Screenings - Rio 2

Date: April 19, 2014
Time: 11 am
Location: SMG Arena Grand

Special Needs screenings are free for children with special needs and their siblings. Everyone else pays before noon matinee price. Special Needs screenings run with the lights up and the sound down so the children are free to laugh, play, sing and even dance while they watch.

The smallest act can go a long way in brightening up the day for an individual with autism and his or her family. Tell us about your Acts of Kindness and Inspire the Global Autism Community by posting on the World Autism Awareness Day Facebook Page.
