In 2012, the addition of a new  12 story building providing 750,000 square feet of clinical space heralded the largest pediatric expansion in U.S. history and positioned Nationwide Children’s Hospital to become the 4th largest pediatric and research center in the country. The addition of a third research tower has secured Nationwide as a top 10 NIH funded research institute among free-standing children’s hospitals.  Nationwide Children’s Hospital has 552 beds with over 1 million in annual patient visits.

From 2012-2013 over 29,300 anesthetics were provided with over 30+ daily anesthetizing locations which include:

  • 15 rooms in the main operating room including an intraoperative MRI/OR suite and OR dedicated for robotic surgery
  • 2 cardiac catheterization labs (including hybrid suite)
  • 3 Dental rooms in a separate dental clinic
  • 4 MRI suites (include MRI in the main operating room)
  • 2 Interventional Radiology Suites
  • 2-3 GI/Endoscopy suites
  • 4 Ambulatory rooms in main campus
  • 3 Ambulatory rooms in Westerville Surgery Center
  • Sedation locations (CT, nuclear medicine, ultrasound)
  • Plans for future main OR and Westerville ambulatory center expansion and a dedicated 2 room sedation suite
