Alexander (Alex) T. Rakowsky, MD, is an associate professor at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and an associate program director of our General Pediatrics residency program, serving with the residency program for 9+. His clinical work is primarily with residents at the Olentangy continuity clinic, where he has been for 18 years. His passions include resident education with particular focus on: (a) working on development of early literacy in our patients, especially in non-English speaking families, (b) developing awareness about and knowledge on how to combat food insecurity among the families we serve (c) increasing the evidence based medicine (EBM) experiences and education for our residents, (d) incorporating robust advocacy and mental health education into the resident curriculum, (e) working on helping educate our residents on how to more adeptly handle medical uncertainty and (f) working with our DO graduates (and interested MDs) in maintaining their osteopathic skills. Dr. Rakowsky serves on several national committees including the APA (Academic Pediatric Association) Continuity Clinic SIG (being one of the authors for the recently released 3rd Edition of the Manual for Continuity Faculty) and the APA EBM SIG, of which he is the former co-chair.
