Infants and children can suffer from a variety of conditions which affect both the upper airways (pharynx and larynx) and lower airways (trachea, bronchi and lungs).
Dr. Merz, a pediatric otolaryngologist at Nationwide Children’s, oversees our integrated Airway Disorders Clinic and works together with pediatric pulmonologists, pediatric speech therapists, and tracheotomy specialists. This team uses a multidisciplinary approach to diagnose and treat airway disorders. Using the team approach, we can offer an individualized medical and surgical approach to patient treatment, implemented in the most efficient way possible.
Comorbidities, such as reactive airways disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and neurologic conditions, may contribute to or adversely affect these conditions as well.
Same-visit diagnostic testing, including in-office laryngoscopy, pharyngeal pH probe placement and pulmonary function testing is also available.
