At Nationwide Children’s, our Department of General Pediatric Surgery provides comprehensive surgical care for infants, children and adolescents with congenital and acquired conditions, including major congenital anomalies, traumatic and thermal injuries, and tumors. As the second largest pediatric treatment center in the United States our surgeons perform more than 4,000 operative procedures every year.

Our nationally-recognized team includes 13 board-certified pediatric surgeons, six of whom are also certified in surgical critical care, and one hospitalist, who is board-certified in general surgery and specializes in burn and trauma care.

Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center
One of only three American College of Surgeons designated Level I Pediatric Trauma Centers in Ohio, we can treat the most complex trauma cases.
Our Burn Program is the only Ohio-based program that is a verified Burn Center by the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeons.
One of the few pediatric bariatric programs in the country, our team offers an option for people who have not been able to maintain weight loss and control their health through dieting alone.

As the only pediatric surgical oncology clinic in Ohio, we offer convenient, comprehensive care for patients with cancer.

Chest Wall Clinic
The Chest Wall Clinic at Nationwide Children’s Hospital provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of disorders affecting the chest wall including pectus excavatum, pectus carinatum, rib deformities and chest wall tumors.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Our team provides expert care for children with complex cases of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, that may require surgery.
