Comments

Patients should fast 12-16 hours before blood collection. Shorter fasts may be appropriate for infants. Non-fasting specimens may result in falsely elevated results. Be sure puncture site is clean and free from soap residue. Glycerol found in hand creams and soap may result in falsely elevated results.
