August Employee of the Month
Beth has been a part of Nationwide Children’s A2 NICU staff for more than 12 years. Beth is a role model to the staff she works with and she looks out for the well-being of our staff, patients and families. Beth is a consistent leader within Neonatal Services and a core member of the Feeding Enhancement Program as a driving force in weekly bedside rounding on C4A and A2. Beth championed the need for an emergency preparedness plan for the NICUs and started by asking “What would we do if a true disaster hit one or more of our units and we had to evacuate?” Since then, a working committee has been developed to engage the leadership and staff of the three Main Campus NICUs. Beth has encouraged staff to achieve their best both personally and professionally and her attitude and demeanor set the tone on her unit.
August Volunteer of the Month
200 hours of service
Congratulations to Steve Gardner on his selection as the August Volunteer of the Month. Steve began volunteering in the Family Resource Center in July 2012 and transitioned to the Welcome Station in October. Since then, Steve has donated more than 200 hours of his time. “From the get-go Steve was always interested in what he could do to help us at the Welcome Station, so in turn we could help families and their guests,” says Sandy Lee, information desk coordinator. Holidays are a busy time for the Welcome Station and Information Desk. Throughout the Christmas season, Steve was wonderful about being out in the cold weather and helping families unload their donations from their cars. Information desk staff member Julie Roy says, “Steve is always fantastic and is always great with people, coworkers and customers.”
