You made it possible! We thank you. Our Grand Opening events were magical and inspiring. And our hospital move-in day was successful as patients were transferred to new rooms and the new main hospital officially opened for business on June 20, 2012.
Want to know more about the new hospital? More than a million patients will walk through our doors in 2012. And we’re ready. Our new, 12-story main hospital adds 750,000 square feet of clinical space, a third research building adds 225,000 square feet
of research space, underground parking frees up six acres of green space for trees, pathways and gardens. Plus a LEED-certified Central Energy Plant makes the entire enterprise environmentally friendly.

On June 11, 2012, Nationwide Children's dedicated its new main campus. A 12-story, state-of-the-art hospital. A third, world-class research building. The next chapter in our 120-year history of providing advanced pediatric care and research begins now.
Employees of Nationwide Children's Hospital and their families celebrated the opening of the new main building. Participants enjoyed many fun activities such as zip-lining and face painting and got a sneak peek of the new campus.
Nationwide Children's Hospital celebrated the opening of the new main building with the central Ohio community. Guests took a behind-the-scenes tour and participated in fun activities on campus.
With help from current patients, former patients and some special guests, the new main campus of Nationwide Children's Hospital was dedicated on June 11, 2012. The ceremony featured speeches from Mayor Michael Coleman, Governor John Kasich, Jack Hanna and many others. Guests participated in The Wishing Tree Project and toured the new main building.
With more than 750 people in attendance and a remarkable outpouring of support from the central Ohio community, Nationwide Children’s Hospital's Opening Gala, featuring three-time Grammy award winner, Harry Connick Jr., raised an astounding $3.8 million. The black-tie gala was completely underwritten by a number of supporters, so that all proceeds directly benefit Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
