If submitting products of conception (POC) tissue sample, please submit completed POC Genetic Test Requisition Form. If submitting postnatal tissue sample, please submit completed General Genetic Test Requisition Form. To obtain requisition form, please call Cytogenetics lab at (614) 722-5321.

This test evaluates for numerical abnormalities of chromosomes 13,18, X, and Y and is used to screen for common numerical chromosome abnormalities such as trisomy 13, trisomy 18, trisomy 21, monosomy X (Turner syndrome), triploidy and tetraploidy. This test?is typically performed when no fresh tissue sample is available for chromosome analysis, and only formalin-fixed tissue is available. If fresh tissue is available, an alternative testing "Tissue Chromosome Analysis (test code: TCS)" that can evaluate for numerical and structural abnormalities of all chromosomes should be considered in place of this testing.

Acceptable specimen types for this test include fresh tissue, frozen tissue, formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue, and unstained slides (6 consecutive, unstained, 3-micron thick sections placed on positively charged slides; decalcified specimen will not be accepted). If return of tissue sample or slides is desired, please indicate the tissue return request on the test requisition form as well as return shipping address, contact person name and phone number.
