Specimen Preparation

  • Mix EDTA or heparin tube by gentle inversion immediately after collection.
  • Allow to clot completely at room temperature
  • Transport to laboratory as soon as possible
  • If delay in transport is greater than 4 hours, refrigerate
  • If using microtainer for collection, 2 full (0.5 mL) microtainers are desired

Specimen Preparation

  • Centrifuge within 4 hours, separate supernatant and refrigerate
  • Transport to laboratory as soon as possible
  • If using microtainer for collection, 2 full (0.5 mL) microtainers are desired
