Specimen Preparation

  • Transport to laboratory as soon as possible
  • Raw stool must be placed into appropriate transport media within 2 hours of collection

  • Stool received in Ecofix preservative
  • Stool received in PVA preservative only

Comments

Antigen detection is recommended over O&P examination for the detection of Cyrptosporidium.
