Comments

N.B. If cytogenetics is also requested, do NOT place the specimen in fixative but ship fresh as soon as possible; see cytogenetics testing for more details. The specimen is delivered to CPA from client (or NCH NICUs). Anatomic Pathology must be notified of receipt of placenta. Specimen should be hand-delivered to Anatomic Pathology, rm J0320. The specimen MUST be accompanied with a tissue requisition which includes all patient information (patient name, date of birth, medical record number, pertinent history, sending institution and tests required) and the "Critical Handoff" form.
