Comments
Inpatients please order the Enterovirus/Parechovirus combo PCR test (EVPEVT) and not the individual Enterovirus (EVTT) or Parechovirus (PEVTT) PCR tests. Specimens received in the Molecular Microbiology Lab after 9 a.m. will be tested on the next daily run (the test is performed daily). **Test is performed once per day.** Specimens received frozen must remain frozen until the time of testing. Testing from a specimen type not listed should be discussed with laboratory personnel (614-722-5404)and the following comment will be added to those results "There is limited data on the diagnostic sensitivity and clinical significance of detecting viral RNA by PCR in this sample type. PCR results should be used cautiously along with other clinical and laboratory data in patient management".
