Specimen Preparation

  • Keep at room temperature
  • Transport to laboratory as soon as possible
  • Do not centrifuge
  • Do not refrigerate
  • Do not freeze

Reasons for Rejection

  • Not collected in Sodium Heparin tube
  • Delayed or improper handling
  • Frozen specimen
  • Refrigerated specimen
  • Clotted specimen
  • Hemolyzed specimen
  • Centrifuged specimen

Comments

Samples can only be collected between 10 A.M. and 5 P.M.(if onsite) Samples must be in Send-out lab by 5 pm on Monday - Thursday to ensure delivery to reference lab within the 24 hour time limit.To ensure samples are not rejected as QNS due to lack of Lymphocytes please refer to the "chart" below and submit sample based on absolute lymphocyte count. Draw the following recommended volume for EACH of the following tests NK function, Mitogen Stimulation, and Antigen stimulation:
