Specimen Preparation
- Do not centrifuge
- Fill tubes to appropriate mark.
- Mix by gentle inversion immediately after collection
- Keep at room temperature
- Do not refrigerate
- Transport to laboratory as soon as possible
Reasons for Rejection
- Not received within specified time frame
- Clotted specimen
- Over or under filled tube
- Refrigerated specimen
- Wrong collection tube
Comments
WBC and Differential must also be ordered. Test is performed Monday - Friday but not on national holidays. Contact Flow Cytometry Lab at 614-722-5482 with questions about the setup schedule and specimen acceptibility. Specimens collected on Friday must be received by 1:00 p.m. Test is not setup on Saturday or Sunday, but specimens can be collected on Sunday after 12:00 p.m.(noon) unless Monday is a national holiday. A Pathologist's consult (billed from Pediatric Pathology Associates (PPAC)) will be charged to the patient.
