Comments

Throat and NP swabs should be collected using the collection kit for viral isolation. Collect a rigorous sample using the swab(s) provided, cut or break off the tip of the swab leaving it in the vial of M4 transport medium. Other respiratory specimen types can be transported to the lab in the standard collection devices used. Test includes detection of all three virus. Individual requests for Influenza A by PCR, Influenza B by PCR or RSV by PCR will be sent to a reference lab. Specimens received after 0900 will be done on the next day of testing. Testing non-respiratory samples requires laboratory director approval.
