Specimen Preparation

  • Centrifuge, remove plasma/serum and freeze
  • Place on ice immediately after collection
  • Transport to the lab immediately after collection

Reasons for Rejection

  • Wrong collection tube
  • Collected in tube with gel separator
  • Not received at proper temperature
  • Not received within specified time frame
  • Not frozen within specified time frame

Comments

Test should be used to monitor diet or dietary therapy. NOT to be used for diagnostic workup. If ordered as a follow-up to a failed newborn screen test, please submit a copy of the state newborn screen test results with the sample.
