Specimen Preparation

  • Seal collection container tightly after collection
  • Transport to laboratory as soon as possible
  • If delay in transport greater than 1 hour, refrigerate

Reasons for Rejection

  • Bacterial contamination
  • Collected in diaper or cotton balls
  • Contamination
  • Diluted specimen
  • pH not within specified limits
  • Wrong type of specimen

Comments

Screen only. PCP was removed from panel but can still be ordered as a send-out test if desired. Does not include confirmation by GC/MS (performed as sendout test). Specimens which may have legal ramifications must be collected, transported under strict chain of custody handling procedures.
