  • Loss of some specimen during collection

Comments

Indicate start and stop date and time on requisition. Blood for creatinine must be collected within 72 hours of urine collection. Instruct patient on proper collection procedure. At beginning of collection have patient void and discard urine. Begin timing collection from this point and collect all urine until the end of the collection period. Have patient void and save urine at the final collection period. Patient weight is to be measured in kilograms (kg) and height is to be in centimeters (cm).
