Specimen Preparation

  • Centrifuge within 4 hours, separate supernatant and refrigerate

Reasons for Rejection

  • Gross hemolysis
  • Not received at proper temperature
  • Not received within specified time frame

Comments

Notify the laboratory if patient is receiving bromide or iodide therapy because the results will be falsely elevated. An alternate testing method will be used which shows limited iodide and bromide interference.
