Specimen Preparation
- Do not centrifuge
- Keep at room temperature
- Transport to laboratory as soon as possible
- Mix by gentle inversion immediately after collection
- If using microtainer for collection, 2 full (0.5 mL) microtainers are desired
Reasons for Rejection
- Specimen received on wrong day of week.
- Not received within specified time frame
- Clotted specimen
- Refrigerated specimen
- Wrong collection tube
Comments
If using microtainer for collection, 2 full (0.5 mL) microtainers are desired. Testing is setup Monday through Friday but not on national holidays. Contact Flow Cytometry Lab at 614-722-5482 with questions about the setup schedule and specimen acceptibility. Specimens collected on Friday must be received in the flow cytometry lab by 1:00 p.m. (unless approved by Pathologist). Test is not setup on Saturday or Sunday. However, samples can be collected on Sunday afternoon for testing on Monday (but not if Monday is a national holiday). Samples are stable for 24 hours at room temperature (do not refrigerate).
