2020 Digital Health Innovation Sprint

About

Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH) is inviting you to join others with expertise in health information technology, clinical practice, digital health research and innovation to share, validate and implement new ideas that can potentially lead to better outcomes for our pediatric patients.

Virtual Pitch Day

The goal of this free event is to give NCH staff, startup companies, and other innovators an opportunity to describe a real clinical/operational challenge and pitch their innovative ideas that leverage digital health to solve it. Participants have an opportunity to collaborate with NCH’s RISI Research & Development team to validate their idea and bring it to life.

On pitch day, each applicant (or team) will have 5 minutes to present their idea, followed by 5 minutes of Q&A.

What to Expect

After pitch day, our selection committee will meet to review the ideas presented and determine which best solve a clinical/operational challenge, or have research funding potential, to move forward. Outcomes of pitch day include:

  • Invitation - work with NCH to validate your idea and apply for a NIH SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) grant to fund development
  • Introductions - this is a great opportunity to make connections with other researchers and startups who may be interested in collaborating outside of this event
  • Rejection

Up to 3 ideas will be selected to work with NCH staff to further define and develop their idea over an 8-10 week period, and will then present a prototype of their idea at our demo day in February 2021.
