Participation FAQs

What is the purpose of research and why is it important?

Clinical research helps to improve the health and daily life of children. Families volunteer to participate in carefully conducted studies to help scientists and doctors provide the best possible care for families like yours.

  4. You will answer some questions
When are appointments scheduled?

We have flexible scheduling! Contact us to find a day/time that works best for you.

What if I need to bring other children?

No problem! Let our study staff know and we can help arrange childcare.

What if I do not have a car?

That's okay! We can provide taxi service.

What should I do if I need to reschedule?

If you need to reschedule your visit, call or text us as soon as possible. We are happy to reschedule for a time and day that is convenient for you!

Will I receive results or advice regarding my child’s development?

Because we are not your child's health care provicer, and the tests we do are designed specifically for research (not medical care), we are unable to offer advice regarding your child’s individual development. We can provide you with your child’s growth measurements that are taken at your visit. We are happy to share with you our overall study results as soon as we have them available.

What are the risks and benefits of participating?

We believe that there is very little chance that bad things will happen as a result of participating. All study activities are voluntary, so if you do not wish to do or answer something, please let our staff know. There may be no direct benefits to being in a study, but we hope to learn information that could help others in the future.

How will my information be kept private?

We do everything we can to keep your information private both during and after your participation. All of the information collected during your visit will not be linked to your name or your child’s name.
