Research Information Services' mission is to provide quality customer service and timely technology solutions for The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital through excellence in application support, innovative and collaborative technology integration and systems design.
Research Information Services (RIS), is The Research Institute’s contact center for all technical related questions and problems with computers, software, enterprise applications and telephones. RIS is staffed by 32 employees supporting the technology infrastructure for all researchers. Our services include help desk/call center, desktop services for Mac, Linux and Windows clients, customer care, training, network services, enterprise email and calendaring, corporate enterprise application support, data backup, systems architecture, data warehousing, disaster recovery, web service hosting and setup, graphics support and analysis and design recommendations .
The Research Institute uses the Microsoft Office suite as standard software for PC and Macintosh systems: Word for word processing, Excel for spreadsheets, PowerPoint for graphics and slide capabilities, and Access for database programs.

Navision – Manages Grant Accounting Processes and Administrative Financial Processes
eTrac (Research Administrative Process Management) – Manages the IRB, IACUC, Grants, COI, Clinical Trials and Time and Effort Administrative Processes
SharePoint Portal Technologies – Hosts collaborative projects and project work areas
CERF – Electronic Lab Notebook
SPSS – available for statistics
EndNote – available for bibliographic purposes.
RIS offers a number of other services and support for lab related software in addition to our standard practices.
