Insurance Information

• We review your baby’s chart to provide medical updates to your insurance company throughout your baby’s hospital stay.

• A stay in the neonatal intensive care unit can be expensive for your family. Regardless of your income or insurance status, financial resources may be available to you. Contact the unit social worker to discuss which programs you may qualify for.

• If you have insurance through your employer, call and add your baby to the policy as soon as possible.

• If you have Medicaid or a Medicaid Managed Care Plan for yourself or your family, you need to notify your county caseworker when your baby is born.

• If you do not have insurance, it is very important that you talk about insurance options with the unit social worker as soon as possible. Your baby may be able to get Medicaid.

• Please give us your insurance information as soon as possible. Tell us immediately if there are any changes. If you have two insurance carriers, please give us information for both.

• It is important for us to be able to contact you at any time. Please let us know about changes in your address and phone number.

As soon as you can, talk to your unit social worker to discuss your baby’s insurance coverage and any financial programs you qualify for. Please let the doctor or nurse know if you have any questions regarding insurance.
