Nationwide Childrens Hospital Will Open Close To Home Center at Diley Ridge Medical Park

July 17, 2009

Nationwide Children's Hospital will be expanding its Close To HomeSM  Center network to southeast Columbus by offering services in the Diley Ridge Medical Park Medical Office Building. Pediatric urgent care, laboratory and radiology services will be offered at the Canal Winchester Close To HomeSM  Center beginning in early 2010. This new location will be the ninth Close To HomeSM  Center operated by Nationwide Children's with current Centers in Dublin, East Central Columbus, East Columbus, Gahanna, Hilliard, Newark, Westerville and Ironton.

"This new location is indicative of our commitment to continue serving our neighborhood communities and will allow us to better serve pediatric patients and their families in the southeast Columbus area," said Nationwide Children's Hospital CEO Steve Allen, M.D. "We are delighted to join Mount Carmel and Fairfield Medical Center in providing medical services for residents in that community."

The 6,700 square-foot center will be located on the first floor of the 46,000 square foot medical office building adjacent to the emergency care center. To date, more than half of the space in the medical office building is leased.

Diley Ridge will offer an ideal mix of emergency, outpatient and physician services, said Ron Whiteside, Diley Ridge president and executive vice president of Mount Carmel Health System. Having Nationwide Childrens Hospital expand its Close To HomeSM  network here is a perfect complement to the emergency care center as a growing number of families move into northern Fairfield County.

The emergency center, also scheduled to open in early 2010, will have access to ground and air transport services and be staffed by emergency medicine physicians, emergency trained nurses, ER technicians, and support associates. The facility will also offer imaging services such as MRI, CT scan, x-ray, ultrasound, and mammography, as well as a clinical pharmacy and laboratory. Future plans for Diley Ridge could include outpatient surgery and a full service hospital as the population grows.
