To help meet the growing demand of gastroenterology needs in the Mansfield area, Nationwide Children’s Hospital will open a Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition clinic at the Mansfield Close To HomeSM Center.
The Gastroenterology Clinic will begin seeing patients in March and will give patients and their families access to Nationwide Children’s world-class pediatric digestive disorders program right in their own backyard. Ranked among the top 10 digestive disorders programs in the country by U.S.News & World Report, the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition provides comprehensive and multidisciplinary care for a broad range of gastrointestinal, liver and nutritional problems.
“We are pleased to expand our outreach in Ohio,” said Carlo Di Lorenzo, MD, chief of Gastroenterology. “The opening of the new GI clinic increases our ability to partner with pediatricians from the Mansfield area and allows patients and their families access to pediatric specialists in their own community.”
In addition to gastroenterology, the Mansfield Close To HomeSM Center offers specialty clinics for pediatric cardiology, urology, neurology and pre-operative evaluation and follow-up care for pediatric surgery patients. The Center, located at 680 Park Avenue West (Suite G05), serves Mansfield, Shelby, Crestline, Ashland and all other surrounding cities with local access to pediatric specialties.
A Nationwide Children’s ChildLabSM has operated at a separate Mansfield location, 1204 Park Avenue West, since 2008. The ChildLabSM staff are specially trained in pediatrics and are able to conduct a full range of laboratory tests which are sent to Nationwide Children's main campus for analysis in order to maintain high quality diagnostic care.
Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Close To HomeSM Centers offer community-based testing, treatment and care for children and families depending on the needs of the community at convenient locations. The Close To HomeSM Centers offer specialized care for all children, newborns through young adults. There are currently 14 Close To HomeSM Centers including the Mansfield location and a Westerville Close To HomeSM Center, located around 55 miles from Mansfield, offering additional diagnostic services. Additional locations include Canal Winchester, Columbus, Dublin, Gahanna, Hilliard, Ironton, Mansfield, Newark and Westerville.
