National Child Abuse Prevention Month
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Prevent Child Abuse Ohio (PCAO), Franklin County Children Services, the Center for Child and Family Advocacy at Nationwide Childrens Hospital and community volunteers will plant 6,954 pinwheels in Livingston Avenue Park representing the total number of reported cases of child abuse and neglect in Franklin County during 2006.
PCAO will commemorate National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April with Pinwheels for Prevention, a month-long campaign designed to enhance the publics awareness about child abuse and neglect prevention. During April, all 88 Ohio counties will display colorful pinwheels in front of schools, playgrounds, libraries and parks. The pinwheel display is a symbolic presentation of Ohios commitment to prevention of child maltreatment. Pinwheels for Prevention is Prevent Child Abuse Americas signature event commemorating prevention activities nationwide during the month of April.
