Media Advisory: Bikes for All People Labor Day Open House and Ride

The Bikes for All People Labor Day Ride is an inaugural event, with Church and Community Development for All People and Nationwide Children’s Hospital serving as two of five supporters. The neighborhood bike ride will strive to promote diversity and a community bond through a shared passion for cycling within the Columbus South Side community. In the first ride of the calendar year, the Bikes for All People Labor Day ride, which will feature two courses, a 6-mile and a 20-mile course, will launch the Bikes for All People shop. With 50 anticipated participants, largely from the Columbus South Side area, both courses will finish at Bikes for All People, where an open house will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Supporters of the ride include Church and Community Development for All People, Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus Public Health’s Institute for Active Living, Major Taylor Cycling Club and Ohio Health.

WHY: Bikes for All People’s (B4AP) vision is to create a place where people from different backgrounds with a shared passion for riding bicycles can gather to build community. Through B4AP, people from many backgrounds will be able to obtain bikes, maintenance, advice, and camaraderie. By gathering bike enthusiasts from many cultures, means, and experience levels, B4AP will form an authentic community that promotes diversity to improve the quality of life on the South Side of Columbus.
