This event is hosted by the staff of the Center for Healthy Weight and Nutrition to celebrate the many accomplishments that patients have achieved during the last year. These patients have started to live a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise and when necessary, some patients have had surgery. The staff will be baking healthy dessert options for the patients and their families.

Every patient who attends will receive a certificate of achievement award. There also will be three special awards presented during the event – the “Patient of the Year” award is presented to the patient who has demonstrated a passionate engagement in the program activities that support bariatric patients; the “Parent of the Year” award is given to the person who has shown exemplary support and service to the bariatric program as a parent of a patient and the “Support Person of the Year” is honored for their assistance to patients as they work to maintain their healthy lifestyle with the aid of clinic appointments and support meetings.

The Center for Healthy Weight and Nutrition offers a comprehensive approach to weight management in children, including programs for both prevention and treatment. The center offers family-based Medical Weight Management Programs covering everyday diet and fitness education to re-establish a more healthy weight. Ultimately, some children's complications may necessitate a surgical approach. The Center offers three options for those who meet the criteria: gastric bypass, gastric band and gastric sleeve surgery.
