Becker Hospital Review Names Dr. Steve Allen of Nationwide Childrens Hospital to its Top 100 Physician Leaders in Health Care List

Becker's Hospital Review recently released its list of 100 Physician Leaders of Hospitals and Health Systems which features some of the top physician leaders in health care including Steve Allen, MD, chief executive officer of Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Becker's Hospital Review is a bi-monthly publication offering up-to-date business and legal news and analysis related to hospitals and health systems. Content is geared toward high level hospital leaders and includes hospital and health system news, best practices and legal guidance specifically for these decision makers. Each issue of Becker's Hospital Review reaches more than 18,000 people, primarily acute-care hospital CEOs and CFOs.

Physician leaders were selected for inclusion on this list of 100 physician leaders based on their healthcare experience, awards they've received and their commitment to quality care. Many of the leaders were nominated by their peers and the list was vetted by industry experts.

Dr. Allen has been CEO of Nationwide Children’s since July 2006. Under his leadership, the hospital has doubled in size with the recent completion of the new state of the art clinical and research facilities – the largest pediatric expansion in the U.S. Nationwide Children’s has also undertaken several, innovative community partnerships including collaborations to combat childhood obesity and prematurity

Prior to coming to Columbus, Dr. Allen was a physician, scientist, teacher and executive at Texas Medical Center in Houston. He is board-certified in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine and has earned a master’s degree in Business Administration. Dr. Allen is married to Jamie Allen, MD, and is the father of five children.
