(From the December 2013 issue of Research Now)
The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital continues its rapid growth, impacting several areas of research administration. As research involving human subjects expands, so does the demand for oversight from the Institutional Review Board (IRB). In addition, research training activities, including a revitalized support program for our postdoctoral and graduate student trainees, is growing.
Debbie Fine has overseen the administration of both human research and training programming. This load is no longer practical for a single person. Going forward, Debbie will focus her full attention to IRB matters as Director of the Human Research Protection Program, working in partnership with the IRB Chair, Karen White.
Training activities will now be coordinated by Katie Campbell as Manager of Research Safety and Training Resources. Katie will continue her role as our biosafety officer and will shortly be hiring a coordinator position to focus on training issues alongside Lauren Kauffman, our Research Projects Coordinator.
