The Office of Sponsored Projects Welcomes Three New Officers

Cody VanMeter, Grants and Contracts Officer, ext 52967
Cody comes to the Columbus area from Ironton, Ohio. He recently graduated from Marshall University with two Bachelor of Business Administration degrees, in marketing and management. Cody worked throughout his college career as a student assistant with the Marshall University Research Corporation, where he was introduced to the world of grant funding and administration. In July of 2013, Cody joined The Research Institute’s Sponsored Projects team as a Grants and Contracts Officer.

Meaghan Ventura, Sponsored Project Officer, ext 53422
Meaghan graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College (now Baldwin Wallace University) in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in biology after switching her senior year from young adult education. She went on to obtain her Master of Science degree in entomology from The Ohio State University in 2008. While finishing up her master’s degree in winter 2008, she relocated to Washington, DC, where she served as a science assistant and later as program analyst at the National Science Foundation. In 2009, Meaghan accepted the position of grants administrator at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, where she was tasked with rebuilding the university’s sponsored research office. She joined The Research Institute in July 2013 as a sponsored projects officer. Meaghan, her family, and their fat beagle Patton live in the Columbus area.

Jamie Dowling Tawes, Sponsored Project Officer, ext 51527
Jamie was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, and is a proud 2004 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She went on to obtain her Master of Public Health degree in 2007 from a program jointly offered by BGSU and The University of Toledo. Jamie started working on her PhD in health education from The University of Toledo, and is currently ABD. Jamie and her husband Kevin moved to Columbus in January of 2012 when she accepted a position in the Center for Injury Research and Policy at The Research Institute. In July 2013, Jamie joined the Finance and Sponsored Projects staff as a SPO. In her free time, Jamie enjoys exploring her new city, visiting with friends and family, cooking, and spending time with her growing zoo.
