New Research Business Systems: Go-Live August 1

(From the July 2017 issue of Research Now)

Beginning August 1, the business software systems used by The Research Institute are changing. Navision and eTrac, the long-standing systems used by Research for grant submission, grants management, and various financial processes, are being replaced this summer. On August 1, grant submissions will move from eTrac to eGrants, and grant financial management, including ordering and approvals, will move from NAV to Lawson.  Additionally, business functions for Departments and Cores currently performed in NAV will migrate to Lawson on the same day.

While all new systems will go live August 1, access to existing eTrac and Nav will be suspended in late July to accommodate data conversion and transition.  The dates of access restriction will be posted on Research Anchor, FSP and Faculty Resource pages.

The biggest changes you will notice are the change in grant numbering, process changes related to the requisitioning and approval of transactions for the procurement of goods and services, and time and effort certification.  Training will be offered for users who place requisitions for supplies and services. Training for pre- and post-award changes will be provided to Principle Investigators, Program Managers, and Administrative Assistants.

Information on training opportunities, those affected by the change, and more details concerning the change in business systems can be found on Research ANCHOR.
