Insurance Basics

Nationwide Children's Hospital contracts with health plans in order to include all of our services. However, even if Nationwide Children's Hospital is listed in your health plan's Provider Directory as a participating or preferred hospital, it does not mean that all of Nationwide Children's services are covered. What to Ask

When asking your health plan if your child can receive services at Nationwide Children's Hospital, there are key questions you should ask in order to be an informed member.

Ask if a specific service such as:

  • Outpatient Laboratory

  • Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy
  • Behavioral Health
  • Home Health Care
  • or a specific provider is a participating provider for your health plan.
    • Even if your Provider Directory lists one of our Close To HomeSM centers as a participating provider, it does not mean every provider at the center also participates with your health plan.
  • Be sure to ask about any out-of-pocket costs you may incur.

  • You may also utilize the Member Services Department of your health plan or your employer's Human Resources Department for questions related to the covered benefits of your health plan.
