2018-19 Intern Classes Announced

A Message from John D. Mahan, MD, Program Director, General Pediatrics Residency

We are excited about the caliber of the young physicians who will begin training with us this year. During their time with us we will expect great things – excellent patient and family-focused care, effective communications within our health care teams, important contributions to our community, and a drive toward research and education.

The residency programs at Nationwide Children’s conduct recruitment through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). Every year, our programs interview more than 400 applicants.

We look forward to training these future pediatric practitioners and leaders.

Ohio Amblyope Registry (OAR) Provides Free Treatment Supplies

The Ohio Amblyope Registry (OAR) is the first and only statewide registry for children and families with amblyopia. OAR provides free treatment supplies (eye patches), educational information and support to any child (under the age of 18) and their family in the state of Ohio. After a child is diagnosed, he/she can register for the program and receive free adhesive eye patches, reward posters, educational information and compliance material. When the child needs additional patches, the caregiver can call the OAR or visit the website to request additional patches. Every child, regardless of household income, can receive additional free patches during their patching treatment. The Ohio Amblyope Registry is a grant-funded program through donations from the dollar check-off box on license plate renewal forms. The program is part of the Save Our Sight fund with the Ohio Department of Health. For additional information, call (877) 808-2422 or visit
