Orthopedics Now Offering Appointments within 24 Hours
The Department of Orthopedics is now offering appointments within 24 hours for fractures and other orthopedic injuries. To schedule an appointment, call (614) 722-5175. Schedulers are available on business days from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Clinic location will vary depending on availability.
CAP4Kids Food Resources Card for Families in Need
The Children’s Advocacy Project (CAP4Kids) has created a food resource card for when your patient families need assistance. The card lists emergency food, long-term help and nutrition, and food planning information. In addition, CAP4Kids can support you and your patients with the resources they need most. Laboratory Services added to Physician Direct Connect
Physician Direct Connect (PDC, formerly PCTC) offers a 24-hour physician/provider consult-transfer center, managed by experienced RNs who can assist in caring for your patients by being a single point of contact for numerous requests. Providers can speak directly with a Nationwide Children’s physician within minutes of their call.
PDC can assist with:
- Transfer and transport requests
- Referrals from local and regional physicians
- ED referrals
- Direct admissions
- Physician-to-physician consultation requests
- Newly added – Direct communication with a pathologist/PhD about complex laboratory or pathology cases

Medical Leadership Program 2019 Accepting Interested Participants
Nationwide Children’s Hospital and its medical staff are pleased to begin accepting applicants for the Medical Leadership Program (MLP) starting January 2019. MLP is an effective overview of basic leadership/management skills taught by Nationwide Children’s leaders for medical staff. The program provides a quick start for leaders who are assuming new or expanded leadership roles in the hospital, their practices and/or their community/professional associations.

The Newark Close To Home℠ Center will continue to care for patients and families through modified services. Laboratory Services, Behavioral Health, and Speech and Language Pathology will still be available at this location. EKG’s will be available by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling (740) 522-3221.
